While you're out on the water with us, keep your eyes on the horizon — it's common to spot humpback whales, orca, Steller sea lions, brown bears along the shore, bald eagles overhead, and the seabird colonies of St. Lazaria Island.

Lucas grew up on Sitka Sound and holds a United States Coast Guard Master license. He and Stefania built Sitka Marine Excursions around the place they call home — and around a family that shares the same love of the water.

Captain Lucas Nisbet
Owner & Founder · Lifelong Sitkan · USCG Master License
Lucas was shaped by these waters from an early age, first heading out with his uncle on charter trips at twelve years old. That pull toward the ocean never let go: he went on to earn his United States Coast Guard Master license and served in the Coast Guard until 2010, when Sitka called him home. A short spell running a fleet of yachts for a Pacific Northwest family followed, but his heart stayed tethered to Southeast Alaska. He returned for good in 2016 — this time to build a life here with his wife Stefania and a family that shares his love of the sea.
Captain Jameszon Doggett
Lifelong Sitkan · Sitka High School, Class of 2003 · 30+ Years on the Water
Jameszon’s connection to Sitka’s maritime legacy runs deep. He was on the water from the age of seven, learning commercial fishing alongside his father, and the pride his father took in that industry still drives him. After graduating from Sitka High School in 2003 he worked some of the most respected boats in Southeast Alaska, where a meticulous eye for detail led him to develop seamanship and safety practices that were taken up across the regional commercial fleet.
Captain Blake Lilly
Ohio & Texas roots · Sitka via U.S. Coast Guard
Originally from Ohio, Blake developed a love for the water early, then honed his angling skills fishing the highland lakes of central Texas in high school tournaments. After graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, which eventually brought him to Sitka in the fall of 2018 — and the beauty of Southeast Alaska made it impossible to leave. In the years since, Blake has built a wealth of local knowledge through freshwater guiding and deck-handing on the salt, and now operates charter vessels on both the inside and outside waters of the Southeast.
Captain Kelly McCarthy
27-Year U.S. Coast Guard Veteran · Retired Master Chief Rescue Swimmer
Captain Kelly brings a 27-year U.S. Coast Guard career to the helm — beginning in the late 1990s as a small boat coxswain in the Caribbean and spanning marine safety and search-and-rescue operations from the Great Lakes to the East Coast, West Coast, and Alaska. A retired Master Chief Helicopter Rescue Swimmer, his decades of experience have given him a deep respect for the ocean and an unwavering commitment to safety. Now in his sixth season fishing the waters of Sitka, he combines professional maritime expertise with a genuine passion for salmon fishing and creating memorable adventures for his guests.
Captain Ahmika
Washougal, WA · Sitka since 2021 · Age 26
Ahmika grew up fishing the Washougal River and Columbia tributaries starting at age 10, chasing salmon and steelhead across Washington, New Jersey, and Alaska before following her passion north to Sitka in 2021. She spent four seasons at one of Southeast Alaska's premier fishing lodges as a deckhand, working alongside the lead captain and immersing herself in every aspect of guiding, vessel operations, and local fishing strategy. The 2026 season marks her first year running a boat full time. When she's not on the water with guests, she can be found in her own skiff, hunting, or creating detailed wildlife artwork.
